Phyllis Gillis, Founder, Chief Executive Officer

Phyllis Gillis is the founder and CEO of FoodPaths®, Inc., an online publication connecting the crossroads of food, bringing the stories of real farmers and their families to the kitchen tables of our families.  An award-wining author, and photojournalist, Phyllis brings first-hand, original, behind-the-scenes authenticity to the stories of the people that grow our food, the places it comes from, and what we eat.

Phyllis GillisPhyllis brings a unique perspective to both her writing and the images she creates through a distinguished career spent in the worlds of journalism, business, and the creative arts.  Formerly based in the Napa Valley as the Executive Director of the Carneros Wine Alliance, this former City Girl, received a Boots on the Ground education, not only in the wine industry, but in farming and agriculture.  As Phyllis likes to explain, “A bottle of wine has to come from someplace and it isn’t concentrated grape juice.”

Phyllis was formerly the Chief Marketing Officer of Farella Braun + Martel, LLP, National Director of Communications, Heller Ehrman, associate director of public affairs, New York University, and principal of Entrepreneurial Communications, Inc., where her clients included venture capital funds and their portfolio companies, technology-based businesses, law, financial and hospitality institutions.

The best-selling author of three books focused on small business and family issues, Phyllis is a former contributing editor of Parents Magazine.  Her recent articles on precision agriculture have appeared in Wine Business Monthly.

Phyllis holds an MSJ from the Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University, and a BA from Michigan State University.   She also holds an MA from San Francisco State University, and an AOS degree from the California Culinary Academy.  She admits to being over-educated.
